Trade in your used books and receive credit to help you purchase other used books from Borealis Books. We sort through the books you bring in and choose which ones we can use. Our selection is based on physical condition and need for our current inventory. Drop off your books between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday through Saturday with your name, address and telephone number. Once we have completed our evaluation, we will contact you with your trade credit balance. Smaller quantities of books, e.g. less than 20, may be processed while you wait depending on how busy we are.
Books turned in for trade must be clean and intact. We will look at anything you bring, but here are some items we‘re likely to pass on:
- Library or text books
- Books with torn covers, missing pages, underlining, musty odor, water staining, or in otherwise poor condition (hard covers must have dust jackets)
- Reader‘s Digest Condensed Books
- Encyclopedias
- Magazines
- Pornography
- Harlequin Romances more than 2 years old
We prefer books less than three years old. Some over-inventoried or older books may be credited at a lesser percent. Hardcovers and Book club editions will be credited a maximum of $2 per book, depending on condition, age, subject, etc. Book club editions, in most cases, are not collectible and are not printed at the same quality as direct from publisher books.
We will open a trade credit account for you that will be available any time you purchase. To establish an account, simply give us your name, address, and telephone number. When using trade credit to purchase books we will need your last name or your telephone numberto pull up your account. We will credit your purchase of any used books from your tradit credit balance first. If you do not find the book you are looking for on our shelves and ask us order a book for you, trade credit can be used for up to 50% of the cover price of the book. Trade credit can never be used to pay for sales tax or shipping and handling charges if ordering a used or out of print book.
We reserve the right to refuse any books for exchange. If you do not want to lug your books back with you, I will keep them to donate to the Friends of the Wadena City Library annual book sale or a local church rummage sale.
Reminder: We can order new books and search for hard-to-find or out-of-print books on request. Antique/Collectible books accepted on consignment.
